This training is designed to provide you with a greater understanding of the complexities faced by women experiencing family violence while also navigating the migration process.

It will provide practical tips around how to support these women and navigate the legal system.

You will learn:

  • To describe the basics of the Australian legal system
  • To explain how a migration matter progresses and how to assist and advocate for your client at each stage
  • To identify the barriers faced by women on temporary visas experiencing family violence
  • Identify urgent migration and visa legal issues in family violence matters
  • To identify the family violence provisions and how they apply
  • To identify how your client’s migration matter intersects with other legal issues
