Jacinta Dwyer Research Internship to enhance outcomes for Victorian women

Women’s Legal has launched a new paid research internship in honour of Jacinta Dwyer, a compassionate lawyer, Magistrate and much-admired former staff member.

The Jacinta Dwyer Research Internship will be open to final year and honours students of law, social work, community development and financial counselling to undertake research aimed at delivering practice improvement and better outcomes for people experiencing family violence.

The internship is supported by the Victorian Magistrates’ Association.

“We honour Jacinta’s legacy and commitment to justice through this internship alongside her fellow Magistrates.

“Whilst I didn’t have the privilege to know Jacinta personally, I am aware that the safety of the women Jacinta worked with and that of their children was always front of mind in her advocacy,” Women’s Legal CEO Claudia Fatone said.

“This internship is a fantastic opportunity for students passionate about gender equity to join us in shaping a future where research contributes to justice and equality and Jacinta’s legacy is continued.”
