Serina McDuff appointed CEO of Women’s Legal

MEDIA RELEASE
8 April 2021

Women’s Legal is pleased to announce that Serina McDuff has been appointed as our new Chief Executive Officer, commencing 24 May 2021.

As CEO, Serina will lead Women’s Legal as we continue to push for improvements to laws and policies that impact women and children going through the legal system following relationship breakdown and family violence. This includes our family law, family violence and child protection legal practice work, our campaign and policy work and our highly-regarded legal education and training programs for sector professionals.

Serina is currently the CEO of the Federation of Community Legal Centres (Vic), where she has been instrumental in leading campaigns for better recognition and funding of community legal centres around the state, to ensure all Victorians can access the legal help they need.

Serina also has many years’ experience in human rights and access-to-justice advocacy, campaigning, public policy and program development, as well as legal work protecting the rights of marginalised and economically disadvantaged communities.

Tina Lavranos, Chair of the Women’s Legal Board, said Serina was a highly respected leader in the legal and social services sector who would bring a wealth of experience to the role.

“As CEO of the Federation, Serina has regularly collaborated with Women’s Legal, working to influence government response to legal and justice needs during the pandemic and bushfires, as well as campaigning on policy issues and funding,” she said.

“We are thrilled that Serina will be joining Women’s Legal during this exciting time of growth, as we strengthen our unique and important role in the sector.”
